As you are no doubt aware, the situation surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak has evolved dramatically since our prior communication just last week.
Since that time, professional sports seasons have been postponed, NCAA sports have been canceled, and states across the country have restricted many daily activities in an effort combat the spread of virus. On Sunday, the CDC recommended that gatherings of 50 or more people be postponed for the next eight weeks.
As the health and safety of our showcase participants, coaches, staff, and their families has been and remains our top priority, we have, with heavy hearts, decided to postpone our Florida showcase.
At this time, we are exploring all viable options with respect to alternative dates and locations for a rescheduled showcase.
Like you, we are greatly disappointed, and we recognize that rescheduling represents a challenge. As we work to confirm the details of the rescheduled event, we are committed to continued frequent communication with you regarding our plans. All prior registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled showcase. In the event that the showcase cannot be rescheduled, we will work to refund registration fees in a timely manner. We appreciate your patience as we plot a path forward in these uncertain times.
We understand that the cancellation of U.S. nationals and other events might have affected the players we most want to help and how important getting the right exposure can be for the future of our registrants. Fortunately, our coaching staff has shown a tremendous willingness to work with us going forward.
CHS will be taking a very proactive approach: We are communicating with ALL college coaches (not just the ones planning to attend CHS Florida) and asking them to let us know how many and which positions are still available for 2020 and 2021. This includes NCAA Division I and Division III teams as well as ACHA teams. We will also be reaching out to U-Sport coaches and ACAC coaches in Canada. We will then create a database which we can share with all of our PG, Senior and Junior registrants which will include contact information for those coaches. We know there are many schools with college hockey opportunities still available—and we are determined to help make the connection between players and coaches
Finally, we have received a tremendous outpouring of support from parents, coaches and officials in Florida. We are extremely grateful for your messages.
We wish you and your families all the best during this challenging time.
A Great Way to Prepare for the Showcase
For the first time, we are offering a mini-camp before our annual showcase in Fort Myers. Happening April 13-15, players who sign up will receive four ice training sessions, two exhibition games, as well as three off-ice training sessions and two private CHS Recruiting Boot Camp seminars! This will allows plenty of time to get to the beach and relax a bit.
